It is reported that the Messenger of Allah stated, βThere will continue to be a group of my nation who prevail upon the truth, and they will not be harmed by those who forsake them.β Al-ImΔm AαΈ₯mad ibn αΈ€anbal said in regards to this statement, βIf they are not the αΈ₯adΔ«th adherents then I do not know who they are!β
Al-αΈ€Δfiz Ibn αΈ€ajar said, βRare is the science from the sciences of al-αΈ₯adΔ«th on which al-KhaαΉΔ«b did not author an independent book upon. Indeed, it is as al-αΈ€ΔfiαΊ Abu Bakr ibn NuqαΉah said, βEvery objective person knows that the αΈ₯adΔ«th masters after al-KhaαΉΔ«b are dependent upon his books.ββ MullΔ ΚΏAlΔ« al-QΔrΔ« expanded upon this, βThis is akin to the statement of al-ShΔfiΚΏΔ«, βAll are dependent upon AbΔ« αΈ€anΔ«fah in jurisprudence.ββ [SharαΈ₯ SharαΈ₯ Nukhbati βl-Fikar (139-141)]
Al-KhaαΉΔ«b said, βI will mention in this book of mine, by the will of Allah, that which was narrated from the Messenger of Allah which encourages reporting from him, and the virtue of transmitting what was heard from him, and also that which was narrated from the Companions and their followers, and from the scholars who succeeded them, pertaining to the honour of the αΈ₯adΔ«th adherents and their virtue, high status and nobility, their mentioned merits, and transmitted characteristics.β
