The Grand Hamawiyyah Fatwa by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah - may Allah have mercy on him: A great treatise in affirming the methodology of the Salaf regarding the attributes of Allah - Exalted be He - which he wrote in the year (698 AH) as a response to a question he received from Hama: “What is the opinion of the esteemed jurists, the imams of the religion, concerning the verses of attributes, such as His saying, ‘The Most Merciful ascended the Throne,’ and His saying, ‘Then He ascended to the Throne,’ and His saying, ‘Then He turned to the heaven while it was smoke,’ and other such verses, and the hadiths of attributes, such as his saying - may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him - ‘Indeed, the hearts of the children of Adam are between two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful,’ and his saying - may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him - ‘The Almighty will place His foot in the Hellfire,’ and so on, and what the scholars have said about it. Elaborate on this, and you will be rewarded, Allah willing.”
