The divorce of an angry person has not been defined precisely – to our knowledge – by anyone before Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, as it is presented in this book. By doing so, he prevented the destruction of homes and preserved for many families what we have witnessed from some people concerning the pronouncement of divorce and other idle talk, and those who swore oaths on matters where they never intended divorce in the first place.
