He (May Allāh have mercy upon him) explained the creed of Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah concerning the tenets of religion, Islāmic rulings, and the fundamentals of the creed of Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. Besides, he expounded on the scholars’ positions known for speaking in the name of Ahl-us- Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. He established that Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah is the victorious sect until the Day of Judgment. This treatise is originally an answer to a question addressed to Shaykh al-Islām (May Allāh have mercy upon him) from the town of Wāsit in Iraq, thus its attribution in the title ‘al-Wāsitiyyah.’ He wrote it after the Asr prayer in one sitting. Scholars and students are still reading, studying, and memorizing it from when it was compiled until now (May Allāh have mercy upon him). It is a great treatise that has been beneficial ever since. In this treatise, he supported his statements with evidence from the Book of Allāh Almighty and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muḥammad (May Allāh elevate his mention and grant him peace).
