AS-SUYUTI was born in 848AH/1445CE in Upper Egypt. He became a scholar of the Muslim sciences and wrote many books on a variety of subjects, of which Tibb an-Nabbi was one of the most popular. It is clear from his writings that his knowledge of medicine was not merely academic, but based on sound practice and experience.
